Corporate Prayer and Holy Boldness

Play episode

In this final message of our prayer series (as we enter Lent), we turn to Acts 4:23–31 and watch what the early church does when pressure and persecution hit: they don’t strategize first—they pray.

After Peter and John are released from prison, they run straight to their people. Together the church lifts one voice to God, beginning not with panic, but with worship: “Sovereign Lord.” They anchor their prayers in Scripture (Psalm 2), fix their eyes on God’s authority, and then ask for something surprising. They don’t pray for comfort. They don’t ask for persecution to stop. They ask for boldness.

This sermon also offers practical guidance for building a simple, sustainable prayer life in a distracted world: start the day with a paper Bible (not your phone), move to a focused space, keep a notepad nearby for distractions, begin with listening, and learn to pray by walking back through your previous day with gratitude and petition.

And when the church prays for boldness, God answers immediately—the place shakes, they’re filled with the Holy Spirit, and they continue to speak the word of God with courage.

We close with a reminder of our mission: the harvest is plentiful, conversions matter, and we don’t “market” the kingdom—we pray people into the kingdom.
