Yesterday I read this article by Dr. John Oswalt and wanted to share. It’s a bit lengthy, but well worth it.

He received the B.A. degree from Taylor University, the B.D. and Th.M. degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary, and the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Brandeis University with a concentration in Mediterranean Studies. His particular interest is Hebrew language and the formation of Hebrew religion against the background of the ancient Near East.
During his professional career Dr. Oswalt has held faculty positions at Barrington College, Asbury Theological Seminary, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and Wesley Biblical Seminary. In addition, he served a term as President of Asbury College.
