As already announced, I’m working on a manuscript titled Holiness in Fresh Perspective. The goal of the project is very specific: to situate the biblical doctrine of holiness within the new framework of understanding Paul’s thought and theology championed by N.T. Wright.
N.T. Wright’s work has brought considerable depth to Pauline studies. Wright brings into focus dimensions of Paul’s thought that have been in the back seat of the imputed righteousness bus for far too long. Wright’s presentation of Paul (as best articulated in Paul and the Faithfulness of God) brings these critical dimension into proper balance thereby lending extraordinary explanatory power in reading Paul (as well as the whole of the Scriptures, for that matter). This “Fresh Perspective” has essentially established a renewed fundamental framework for understanding Paul’s thought and theology.
The goal, then, of Holiness in Fresh Perspective is to read Paul’s very own holiness doctrine within this fresh framework.
I’ll be posting various portions of the manuscript here as the project progresses.
Oddly enough, my pastor, who leans Calvinist, has been quoting a lot of NT Wright in his sermons the last couple months. I wonder if it’s because of the new book.
